Claymore Eyes Broader Market Offerings

03-19-2010 | Source: Fund Action

Claymore Securities has launched three exchange-traded funds based on broad market indices provided by Wilshire Associates and will partner with Wilshire on other offerings. The Wilshire 5000 Total Market Index ETF, Wilshire 4500 Completion Index ETF and the Wilshire US Real Estate Investment Trust Index ETF are based on corresponding Wilshire indices. The funds will have expenses of 12 basis points, 18 bps and 32 bps, respectively.

Bill Belden, managing director at Claymore, said the move fills a lineup gap and represents a natural next step for Claymore, rather than a departure from narrower, niche-based ETFs the firm typically offers. “We’ve been underrepresented in core ETF offerings and this is part of an effort to capture a larger advisor audience. Wilshire is a good fit for us,” Belden said. Claymore is working on developing other offerings with Wilshire, but Belden declined to comment on those because registration is still several weeks away.
