01-07-2010 | Source: Derivatives Week

Standard & Poor’s has launched its S&P Selector Sector Capped 30% indices specially developed for the U.K. exchanged-traded fund firm Source. According to Source, the nine new U.S. sector ETFs mark the first time European investors will have access to a derivative of S&P U.S. Select sector indices through a European-listed, UCITS III-compliant ETF structure. The indices—covering consumer discretionary, consumer staples, energy, financial, health carte, industrials, materials, technology and utilities—account for more than 40% of the total U.S. Sector ETF assets under management, and have average daily trading volumes that account for 59% of the U.S. sector market’s average daily turnover. The addition of the new U.S. Sector ETFs brings Source’s product range to 68 across the equity and commodity markets.
