SAB Miller, Heineken and Japan’s Kirin Holdings are interested in acquiring Mexico’s FEMSA Cerveza, Reuters reports. U.S. brewer, Molson Coors, has backed away from a bid to buy the Mexican brewer.
The FEMSA group is seeking $9 billion for its beer business. The FEMSA families own about 39% of the FEMSA group, which owns brewing, soft drinks and retailing interests and controls 75% of the voting rights.
