UBS is planning to add over 12 sales and trading staff to its equities business in Canada, Bloomberg reports. The Swiss bank could boost its Canadian equities staff by about 10% a year over the next two years.

The unit, which includes research, sales and trading, has about 68 staff at present, which is lower than about 90 staff it had in the beginning of 2007. The bank could also hire new bankers in its corporate finance departments in Toronto and Calgary.
