Mexico will receive two loans, totaling about $2 billion, from the World Bank, The Wall Street Journal reports. The bank will offer a $1.5 billion loan in the first tranche payable in November 2021 and will disburse $491 million in the second tranche.
The $1.5 billion loan will be used to fund the counter-cyclical fiscal programs, which include temporary employment programs for about 600,000 people a year in 2009 and 2010. The $491 million will be used to finance AH1N1 flu-prevention measures.
