French state-owned power company, Électricité de France (EDF), is looking to finalize a $4.5 billion deal with Constellation Energy Group, The Wall Street Journal reports. Maryland regulators have approved EDF’s bid for nearly half of the nuclear assets of Constellation.

The government’s consent comes with conditions including financial protection for Constellation’s Baltimore Gas & Electric, a $250 million capital infusion in the utility by Constellation and a $110.5 million rebate for its customers. The conditions are applicable only to Constellation.
