Motorola will sell its email unit, Good Technology to Redwood Shores-based Visto for $500 million, The Wall Street Journal reports. It had bought the mobile email provider just two years ago to help it contend against BlackBerry and other messaging devices.
Visto, whose messaging services are offered via carriers such as T-Mobile International and Vodafone, is buying the business to extend its client base. The sale comes as Motorola seeks to sell some assets to raise cash and scale back expenses.
