Institutional Investor News is proud to announce the winners of the 2008
20 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds.
In selecting finalists for our second edition, we tried to be representative of the hedge fund markets diversity. As you will see, this years
20 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds manage, co-manage or support portfolios of assets ranging in size from $25 million to $35 billion. The focus of their investment portfolios range from energy to healthcare, and their strategies include asset allocation modeling, long/short investing and quantitative risk management. Furthermore, they are increasingly becoming globally diverse, a trend that continues to gain momentum as managers look to operate closer to the markets in which they invest.
The
20 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds will be honored, along with nominees and winners of
Alternative Investment News' 6th Annual Hedge Fund Industry Awards,
at a dinner and ceremony in New York City in June 2008.
Besides the Rising Stars, a new feature in this years edition is the inclusion of league tables for hedge fund returns. Provided by Crédit Agricole Structured Asset Management Advisers, the tables include one-year and three-year performance leaders across 10 strategies. For perspective, we then speak to several of the performance leaders about their strategy and where they see the market headed in the coming year.
Selecting the final 20 Rising Stars was a difficult task, as many outstanding individuals were nominated. We would like to thank the nominees and those who nominated them for making this list possible, and we look forward to charting the professional progress of our Rising Stars in the years to come.
