Lionsgate is seeking to buy Walt Disney’s film unit, Miramax, New York Post reports. The Hollywood studio, which may initially bid between $500 million and $600 million, may increase its offer to a maximum of $700 million.
The Weinstein Company and independent studio Summit Entertainment may also be interested in Miramax, adds Reuters. The Weinsteins brothers had sold Miramax to Disney in 1993, but stayed on as co-CEOs until five years ago.
