Franklin Templeton Investments has introduced a new hedged share class for its Templeton Global Total Return Bond fund, Financial Times reports. The fund’s hedged share class will now be able to investors through platforms, including Investment FundsDirect, Novia, Allfunds, FundsNetwork and Cofunds.

The new share class, H3, has been formulated for funds that have an investment strategy based on a different currency, to curb the affects of changes in the exchange rate between the two currencies. The firm is targeting to reach its objective by using financial instruments, including currency options and forward currency exchange contracts and currency futures. The portfolio is managed by the senior vice president of the firm’s fixed income unit, Michael Hasenstab.
