Nortel Networks is planning to push back the auction of its global optical networking and carrier ethernet divisions, Reuters reports. The deadline to submit bids has been rescheduled to Nov. 17.
The bankrupt Canadian telecom equipment maker said Ciena’s $521 million cash and stock bid will be the stalking horse offer for the businesses. It is also selling its CDMA and LTE assets to Ericsson for $1.13 billion as part of auctioning off its assets in an attempt to pay back debtholders.
